nuresh was started by three expatriates, Beverly and Crystal Sasagawa Palar and Brian Tam, who after being in Shanghai for many years, began to see and feel the effects of a high-stress, fast-paced lifestyle on themselves and those around them. Demanding corporate careers and hectic social lives called for frequent restaurant meals and no time or energy for grocery shopping, meal preparation and knowledge of healthy nutrition.
The consequences of this unhealthy lifestyle finally caught up to them. They knew there had to be a better way to live and thrive in a vibrant city such as Shanghai, and that is how nuresh was born.
Food is our body’s fuel
At the heart of nuresh’s core is the belief that a healthy body begets a happy mind. When your body and mind are nourished, you have the energy, confidence and strength to achieve all the things in your life that bring you happiness; be it your career, your relationships or your dreams and that is the mission of nuresh: to fuel the best you!
nuresh, the name
It seems so simple and obvious now, but along the way there were many long conversations, brainstorming sessions and lively discussions before the name you see today came to be.
The name was thoughtfully created inside out: based on the fundamental idea that healthy living leads to a happy fulfilling life.
Many variations were bounced back and forth, but ultimately it was this combination of "nutrition + fresh" that best reflected the brand concept. We knew it was perfect when we realized it also sounded like nourish, which of course refers to the provision of good fuel for optimal health and a happier life.
In the company name and logo you will see a reflection of the founders' personalities: Beverly's positivity and passion, Brian's need for simplicity and sensibility, and Crystal's sharp eye for detail and love for aesthetics. This version of the name first popped up in the founder's discussions around February 14th, 2012 and you could say that was when nuresh was officially conceived... with much love and care!
